#Ladyboss Blog

Welcome to the #Ladyboss blog! The graphic design industry like many others suffers from gender inequality. Even today female designers get paid less, hold less senior positions, and are under-represented on stage at industry events. Despite all of that, women unapologetically continue to create agency for themselves in the graphic design world. The #Ladyboss blog is a space to honor their achievements, contributions, and advice.

Meet this month's #Ladyboss Tatyerra Mikell

Business Name: Pretty Creative Hustle

What does your business do? It's 1/2 creative agency and 1/2 creative community.

Why did you start your business? What inspired you or what need did you want to fill? Right after college I took a job as a VISTA (for those who don't know, it's a volunteer opportunity so I didn't make any money). To supplement my income I started freelancing and what I realized I was fortunate enough to have a community of women around me to support that endeavor. Pretty Creative Hustle was born out of this idea that more women should have a community of support around them, on both sides, as entrepreneurs and the creatives that bring their businesses to life.

What woman in your life inspires you the most? Personally, my mom, she's the most creative person, and she continues to find new ways to express it. Professionally, Lavinia Le'Anne Jones, not only is she creative she's turned that into a business and continues to evolve and has followed her dreams along the way.

What is one piece of advice you'd like to share with your fellow female entrepreneurs? Just start! Don't be afraid, don't think about all of the what-ifs, just do it, and continue to do it. You only fail if you don't start and if you quit.
